X96-Max should have factory OTA to improve the standard rom, I was told that particular box has already received 5 or 6 firmware patch updates since it was released late last year.
UPDATE:
Testers for new V3 AtvXperience will be contacted in April. If everything goes well and time allows the new firmware should be ready by end of April.

Unfortunately I pushed through all updates prior to judging it. It operates worse than my Mini M8 IIs does... I use plex and I can play on that 905x box without transcoding videos at 720 but with the Rom on the X96 it forces it to SD and transcoding... The 905X2 is supposed to be an improvement not worse...

Parsival Ok, weird, everything I have heard about the X96-Max have been positive reviews. Sounds like it might be a Settings issue, something is triggering on or off that shouldn't.
Some ROM modders have released firmware ROMs for the new chipset s905x2, several options available for the X96. Can try those till AtvX is ready. Find some of them here:

I have been thinking that i may have to try running it wireless to see if that makes a difference as I have only tried it hard wired to my network. I noticed when it was transoding that it seemed to have a very low network speed. It may be an issue with the ethernet driver causing the issue. I am using it on the same connection as the older box I have which gets excellent network speed.
